Hervey Bay phones ring when a house is being emptied
The Fraser Coast is regular territory for us, and Hervey Bay is where that shows up as people moving life from one house into a smaller one. Downsizers in Pialba and Urangan, renovators who have to keep sleeping in the building they are gutting, and small businesses whose stock no longer fits the shop. The esplanade blocks look flat and friendly until you count the caravan in the drive and the power line that sags in the heat.

Regular Fraser Coast work
These deliveries are part of the Fraser Coast pattern, planned with the Maryborough jobs, and filled from stock held for this coast. Fraser Coast stock does not come with a printed street. The container is the one that matches the grade, checked before it is loaded, and you get the day when the order is in. Flat coastal blocks help the truck. They do not remove the need for a photo of whatever is already parked where the box should go.
Pialba, Scarness, Torquay and Urangan all sit in 4655, and they do not behave the same. Scarness and Torquay have older beach houses on modest lots. Urangan stretches toward the marina and the bigger boats. Point Vernon is hillier than visitors expect. River Heads (4655) is the quieter end, with more room and a few drives that drop toward the water. Burrum Heads (4659) is far enough out that the last kilometres should be mentioned when you enquire, not discovered by the driver.
Downsizing without losing the things you meant to keep
The typical call is a couple leaving a family house for something smaller, with adult children who will 'sort the boxes later'. Later can be a year. A 20ft on the new block, or on the old one while the sale settles, holds furniture that is not rubbish and not needed next week. Pack it as if you might want the lamp without unloading the mattress. The notebook article How to Pack a Shipping Container for a House Move is written for exactly that annoyance.
Renovators are the other half. A kitchen and a bathroom cannot be done while the lounge suite watches. The box sits on the flattest part of the yard, doors toward the path you will actually use at night, because people do go out for a chair they suddenly need. If the house is a rental or a retirement-village unit, ask permission before we book. We will not mediate a village rule from the kerb.
Small shops around Boat Harbour Drive and the Pialba centre use a container for seasonal stock, market gear and the overflow that used to live in a garage they no longer have. That job wants a watertight unit. Cardboard and salt air are a bad pair, and an as-is box with a tired roof will show you why within one summer storm.
Sand, caravans, and a water table that sits high
A lot of Hervey Bay is sandy and low. Sand drains, which is good, and it shifts under a point load, which is not. Pavers or bearers under the four corners stop the door end sinking a centimetre more than the other end. Once the frame racks, the doors fight you forever. Level it on the day, not after the furniture is in.
Caravans, boat trailers and a second car are the access story. The street can be wide and the drive still blocked. Walk it with the trailer where it usually lives, then send the photo. If the container has to go beside the house rather than in front, a tilt-tray may not have the run, and a crane truck is the honest quote.
Storm surge and king tides are not theoretical at River Heads and along the lower streets. Do not put the only container of family papers in the lowest corner because it was easiest for the truck. Highest firm patch you have, even if the walk is longer.
Packing so you can still find the kettle
Downsizers regret the random load more than the money. That house-move note is the antidote, and it is short enough to read before the truck morning.
Hervey Bay, mostly about houses being emptied
We are downsizing from a Torquay house to a unit. How long does a 20ft stay sensible?
As a hire, while you decide what follows you and what does not. If the sorting stretches past a year, buying usually costs less and you can keep the box at the new place. Tell us the likely months and we will put both figures down.
The drive at Urangan has a boat trailer in it most days. Can you work around that?
If the trailer can be moved on the morning, a tilt-tray is often fine. If it cannot, we need to see what is left. Send the photo with the trailer in its usual spot so the quote matches the real street.
Do you have a depot in Hervey Bay?
Stock for the Fraser Coast, including Hervey Bay, is held for this coast. We don't publish a street. The day is set when you order.
