Sunstate CONTAINERS

Container sales and hire, run by people who pick up.

Gladstone already knows what a container is for

Gladstone is an industrial port town that has lived with containers for decades. The enquiries split cleanly. One half is a shutdown or a project that needs laydown this month and will not need it next year. The other half is a house in Clinton or over on Boyne Island that is being renovated and has nowhere for the spare room to go. We supply both. They should not be quoted as if they were the same gate.

Navy side-opening container of the kind Gladstone parts stores sometimes need

Industry at one gate, a backyard at the other

Project work clusters at Clinton, Callemondah, Yarwun and around the port, all in 4680. Contractors want a tool crib, a parts box and sometimes a third unit as a crib room, lined up on hardstand that already exists. Site rules matter more than the truck: inductions, time slots, where the driver may stand, whether the box has to be gone before the next shutdown crew arrives. Tell us those rules with the enquiry. Turning up to a major site with a container and a hopeful smile is how deliveries get refused.

Hire fits a one-off outage. Buying fits a business that has another job in the region every quarter and would rather keep a box in a local laydown between them. We will price both. We will not pretend a six-week hire is a bargain if you already know the work is permanent.

The household half is Barney Point, Glen Eden, Boyne Island and Tannum Sands, still 4680, plus Calliope (4680) where the blocks get larger. Renovations, a fishing shed that overflowed, a small business that started in a garage. Those drives are ordinary until a tree or a carport says otherwise. A tilt-tray does most of them. A 40ft wants the sidelifter room that a project yard has and a suburban side passage does not.

Laydown layouts, and when a stack is a bad idea

Rows of containers, or two with a roof between them for a shaded work bay, are normal on Gladstone laydown. Stacking is the version people ask for when the lease is tight. It needs level hardstand, castings directly over castings, and locks. If the ground is fill that was never compacted for a point load, the bottom box racks and the doors die. The article Stacking Containers: What the Castings Take, and What the Ground Has To is the warning, written before anyone gets heroic with a crane they happen to have on site.

A side-opening unit earns its keep in a parts store where a forklift must reach any pallet, not just the front row. It is wasted money if the long side will sit against a fence. Say how you load. We would rather sell you a plain box.

Where the container starts

Gladstone orders, industrial and backyard, are filled from stock held for this port coast. We are not publishing a street. The unit is checked before it is loaded, and the freight — including a site that takes half a morning of inductions — is discussed before you agree the figure.

Salt is in the air even a few kilometres back from the harbour. Hinges, door gears and the roof seams are what to watch, especially on a box that lives on an open laydown with no shed wall to hide behind. A quick wash after the dry season dust mixes with a sea breeze will do more than a new coat of paint on a dirty surface.

If the box is for a house, tell us which way the doors should face before the driver is in the street. On a Tannum Sands block that is usually toward the garage, not toward the neighbour who already dislikes the idea.

Read this before you stack on laydown

Castings and ground, not optimism. The stacking note is short and it has saved more doors than any paint system.

Gladstone, split into site rules and home drives

We have a shutdown window at a port-area site. Can delivery hit a time slot?

If you give us the slot, the induction and who meets the driver. A container booking that ignores the gatehouse is not a plan. Say those constraints when you ask for the price, because they change the morning more than the kilometres do.

Hire for one outage, or buy because another job is likely?

Hire for a single shutdown with a clear end. Buy if the box would sit in a local laydown and go out again next quarter. We will put both numbers in front of you.

Is there a Sunstate depot in Gladstone?

Stock for Gladstone is held for the port coast. We don't publish a street. Industrial and backyard orders are both supplied from it, and photos of the container are available before it is loaded.

Ask for a price

Shutdown laydown or a Boyne Island driveway?

Those are different trucks and different rules. Tell us the gate, the date pressure, and what has to stay dry.
